Sillamäe gets its first privately owned solar park outside the port
Nuve Retail Property Fund has taken another step towards more sustainable real estate development by installing the first rooftop solar system on a privately owned commercial building in Sillamäe outside the port area.
The project is a significant milestone, as solar installations in Sillamäe have so far been built mainly on municipally or state-owned buildings, while additional solar capacity is located within the Port of Sillamäe. No rooftop solar systems have previously been installed on privately owned buildings outside the port area.
Completed and commissioned in June 2026, the 95 kWp solar installation is designed to cover part of the building’s electricity demand, helping to reduce both energy costs and environmental impact. The shopping centre at Viru pst 35 is the first commercial property of its kind in Sillamäe to feature such a solution.
The commercial building at Viru pst 35 has been part of the Nuve Retail Property Fund portfolio since April 2022. The shopping centre occupies a convenient location along residents’ everyday travel routes and is easily accessible on foot, by public transport and by car.
In addition to a Maxima grocery store, the centre is home to a Benu pharmacy and several smaller retailers, offering visitors a broad range of products and services and serving as an important local destination.
